Inside HoloCoach: Building the Future of Personalised Fitness

In a fitness world overflowing with apps, programs, and quick fixes, it’s easy to assume everything new is just another variation of the same idea.

But every so often, something is built not from trends or market gaps, but from years of lived experience, curiosity, and frustration with how things currently work.

That’s where HoloCoach comes in.

At its core, HoloCoach wasn’t built from a trend, it was built from experience, passion, and real-world coaching.

For founder Monty Simmons, movement has always been more than just exercise. It’s something he has studied, practised, and refined for years.

“I have always loved movement. Since I was a kid, I have been exercising and moving.”

That early interest deepened when he began training in martial arts as a teenager, becoming fascinated by the precision and detail behind even the simplest actions.

“There’s so much detail in the simplest movements… those small details completely changed how a movement looked, how it felt, and how it was performed.”

That understanding stayed with him, but during the shift to online coaching in 2020, a clear gap began to emerge.

The Problem With Traditional Fitness Content

As he began teaching people remotely, one limitation became impossible to ignore.

While online sessions worked in the moment, they didn’t translate well when users were left to train alone. Without real-time guidance, detail was lost.

“Watching a 2D video… they’ve got no way of asking questions. They’ve got no way of seeing that extra detail.”

It wasn’t just about access to workouts, it was about understanding movement correctly.

That breakthrough came during biomechanics studies while working with 3D software technology.

“All of a sudden you could see all of the detail at your fingertips.”

That realisation became the foundation of HoloCoach.

From Idea to Innovation

What started as a simple concept quickly gained traction. Early prototypes were shared with industry professionals and clients, who immediately recognised the value.

“They also found it useful to be able to see the movement from all different angles.”

But the vision extended beyond visuals alone.

“What I wanted to create was a learning tool… not just follow the exercise, but also learn as you go.”

This idea, combining visual clarity, coaching guidance, and interaction, remains at the heart of the platform today.

A Smarter, More Personal Approach to Fitness

As development continued, the vision expanded far beyond becoming just another fitness platform. Instead, it evolved into something far more personalised and adaptive.

“In the next few years, I want everybody to genuinely feel like they have a personal trainer in their pocket.”

What separates HoloCoach is its level of personalisation and responsiveness.

“This is what I would consider to be a hyper-personalized workout.”

The goal is to remove one of the biggest barriers in fitness: uncertainty and confusion.

“I don’t want not knowing what to do to be a problem that exists in the fitness industry anymore.”

At a deeper level, the mission is even more ambitious:

“My goal is to eliminate exercise illiteracy.”

Why Build in Public?

Rather than waiting for a polished final product, HoloCoach has been shaped through early testing, feedback, and real-world interaction.

For the founder, this process is essential when building something genuinely new.

“Unless that is validated from real people, you can spend a lot of time building things that people don’t necessarily need.”

That constant feedback loop has become a core part of development.

“I can see when they look confused… and that helps me see the gap that I need to fill.”

The result is a product being shaped not in isolation, but in collaboration with its users.

Evolving Beyond Just Visuals

One of the most important turning points came from a key realisation: showing movement clearly is not always enough.

“People looking at something visual isn’t quite enough… if you don’t know what to pay attention to, you’ll miss the details.”

This insight pushed HoloCoach beyond being just a visual tool and into something far more guided, educational, and immersive.

“The real shift has been in curating an experience that feels guided rather than just a visual tool.”

The aim has remained consistent throughout:

“My goal is to basically replicate the coaching experience that I deliver every day and put it into a mobile phone.”

Where Holocoach Is Now

Currently, HoloCoach is in its early testing phase, with a beta version on the horizon.

This next stage introduces one of its most ambitious features yet: a fully adaptive workout generator.

“You’ll have a little character of me… and Monty AI will create new workouts for you every day.”

This removes the need for users to plan, search, or second-guess their routines.

“You don’t need to spend time looking for an appropriate workout… it will create those workouts for you at your level.”

As users continue to engage, the system will learn, adapt, and evolve with them.

The Challenge of Building Something New

Behind the vision is a highly complex technical system combining multiple emerging technologies.

“These are complex technologies… and when you combine them together, you double up that complexity.”

Balancing innovation with usability has been one of the greatest challenges — ensuring the experience remains simple while still powerful.

The Human Side of Building HoloCoach

Despite the technical depth, the journey behind HoloCoach has also been deeply personal.

“The most rewarding part has been having something that has been in my head for years actually be in an app and in other people’s hands.”

But turning that vision into reality hasn’t come easily.

“The hardest thing has been… trying to imagine this thing that doesn’t exist and then needing to communicate that to people.”

It has required long hours, persistence, sacrifice, and commitment.

“I’ve worked most days for 14, 15 hours straight… so having it out there feels amazing.”

Defining HoloCoach

When asked to describe HoloCoach in its simplest form, he offers a clear summary:

“An adaptive 3D fitness instructor that takes care of your workouts so that you never have to worry about what you should be doing, how you should be doing it, and why you don’t feel like you’re making progress.”

But beneath that simplicity lies something far more ambitious.

“It’s a collection of decades of experience powered by groundbreaking technologies… it’s gonna become a bit of a super trainer.”

Final Thoughts

HoloCoach sits at the intersection of movement, education, and technology, but more importantly, it reflects a shift in how fitness can be understood.

Not as something rigid or intimidating.

But as something guided, adaptable, educational, and personal.

And if that vision becomes reality, it may not just change how people train, but how they understand movement altogether.
